Welcome to the Kolty Chess Club! We invite people of all ages and skill levels for instruction, social play, or tournament level competitions – formal and informal.

For those of you familiar with the Kolty Chess Club and are just wanting to RSVP for a tournament, please go to our online RSVP Form.

When:
We meet most every Thursday. View our schedule for specific dates & times. Lectures/lessons are presented by an instructor from 7:15pm - 7:45pm. Tournaments run from 7:45pm-11:45pm. We also offer Open Play from 8pm - 12pm on tournament days.

Events:

  • Tournaments: (USCF Rated) Tournaments are usually 5 or 6 rounds. The Club offers ongoing USCF rated tournaments with people of ratings from beginner to expert.

  • Skittles: Chess for fun – there are usually 10-15 people with which to play for fun, un-timed and/or 5 minute blitz chess.

  • Special Events: Simul exhibition matches are usually available at least once a year from a master.

Equipment:
The club has ample chess sets, boards, and clocks which are available for anyone to use.

Tournament Cost:
USCF membership is required in order to play in the USCF rated tournament. USCF membership information is available at: secure.uschess.org/webstore/.

In addition, players must either pay for an individual tournament or be a member for the entire year. Membership is tax deducible.

Annual membership fee in The Foundation of Family Values (FOFV) could save you $189 or more per year in the Kolty Chess Club!

Junior players (15 years of age and under) and Senior players (65 years of age and older) who are members, get additional discounts on membership and tournament fees. See our easy-reference price chart below for more information:

Notes

  • Memberships and pre-paid yearly tournament fees cover the calendar year. If you join after January, your fees will be prorated based on the month you join and/or pay, rounded up to the nearest dollar.
  • When renewing your membership or paying your annual fees, please pay at the beginning of each January.
  • The average Tournament is 5 rounds, but some can be 7 or 8.
  • Only USCF members can play in USCF Tournaments. To become a USCF member, go to: http://www.uschess.org
  • Annual membership fees also entitle the member to discounts on other FOFV services.

Non-Tournament Costs
We respectively ask that non tournament players using the facility make a donation. Fees and donations are used to help defray the cost of renting the community center and purchasing supplies.

General Information
Normally a tournament will be a Swiss system with players grouped into 2, 3, or 4 groups by rating. Byes are available for any round if made in advance. Pairings are created on Wednesday evenings. Please notify us by Wednesday if you are unable to attend. Contacting us prior to the event is helpful.
