8/21/08 Kolty 2008 Club Championship annual 7 Round Chess Tournament
We would like to thank all participants in the 2008 chess tournament. 7/25/08 The Foundation of Family Values Board of Directors welcomes new member John Conway
The board of Directors unanimously nominated John Conway as a valuable new addition to the organization. He is a practicing Family Law attorney and also a past-president of the Santa Clara County Bar Association.

7/25/08 Santa Clara County Male Involvement/Fatherhood Collaborative appoints Jay Harden & Keith Morales as co-chairs
Jay Harnden from the Foundation of Family Values has been named as the leader of Santa Clara County Male Involvement/Fatherhood Collaborative. The collaborative has over 80 members that work together to support the needs of males throughout Santa Clara County. First Five of California is the main facilitator of this pilot collaborative to later be used as a model throughout California.

7/21/08 Fathers' Support Group
The Fathers' Support Group will be offered for FREE on Tuesday nights from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Almaden Community Center in the conference room. (See Parenting Support Groups for more information.) The group is facilitated by Jay Harnden, one of the founders of Family Matters and the founder of Family Coaching Solutions. *Note*: A raffle ticket is given to father's for every attendance. The tickets will be randomly selected and awarded to receive 2 free donated tickets to a local professional sporting event. Click Here for the electronic Flyer.

7/14/08 Managing Parental Anger
2 Mondays, 7/14 and 7/21, 2007 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. $40 individual or $60 couple for members.
New class begins July 14th. Online registration is available. Room J66N Campbell Community Center.

6/1/08 Kolty Chess Club
On Thursday June 19th from 7:30 p.m.- 12:00 a.m. the 1 Round Kolty Club Championship Chess Tournament will begin. The tournament will be held in the Orchard Hall at the Campbell Community Center. The main Kolty Chess Club page provides further information for interested parties.

5/1/08 Therapy Support Group
8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Free to FOFV members and registered parents.
The group is for parents who meet after the Conscious Parenting Class (same room). The group is facilitated by a licensed Therapist or Intern/Trainee. This group allows a healthy safe environment for parents to explore solutions to challenges often faced by modern families.

5/1/08 Conscious Parenting Class
6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Sliding Scale
New class begins 5/12/08. Online registration is now available for the course. Space is limited. The class also incorporates the Parenting Support Group immediately following the course for an additional hour.

4/26/08 San Jose Children's Faire
On Saturday April 26th from 11:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Discovery Meadow in front of the Children's Discovery Museum in Downtown San Jose is the annual Children's Faire. FOFV will be collaborating with Childhood Matters radio show for the event. Stop by and say "hello" to the volunteers at our booth with your children and perform fun filled activities while continuing to explore around at the faire!. Raul Tornel was the lucky winner of a free massage!

4/10/08 Kolty Chess Club
On Thursday April 10th from 7:30 p.m.- 12:00 a.m. the 5 Round Denali Chess Tournament will begin. The tournament will be held in the Orchard Hall at the Campbell Community Center. The main Kolty Chess Club page provides further information for interested parties.

4/1/08 Badminton Clinic
1992 Olympic Athlete & professional Badminton Player Ben Lee will provide a free clinic at the Almaden Community Center on Tuesday April 1st from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Ben is the co-owner of the new Bay Badminton Center located in Burlingame. He provides private and group lessons at the Bay Badminton Center. The Almaden Community Center will host the event with registered badminton courts for the first 14 players from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. followed by the clinic. Reykajvik, Iceland (Sports Network) - U.S. chess grandmaster Bobby Fischer died of kidney failure on Thursday.
